Accountant - Food Manufacturing

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a full-time Accountant in Mlolongo for its food manufacturing business. The role covers financial reporting, budgeting, cost accounting, cash flow and treasury, tax compliance, internal controls and accounts payable and receivable.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, maintain the general ledger and perform month-end and year-end closing.
• Reconcile bank accounts, supplier and customer accounts and balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare management reports on financial performance and key business insights.
• Coordinate annual budgets and periodic forecasts, monitor expenditure against budgets and analyse variances.
• Monitor production costs (raw materials, labour, manufacturing overheads), analyse product costing and profitability, and prepare cost reports.
• Monitor daily cash flow, prepare cash flow forecasts and liquidity reports, manage supplier payments and customer collections.
• Prepare and file statutory tax returns (VAT, PAYE, corporate tax) and liaise with auditors, tax consultants and regulators during audits.
• Develop and monitor internal controls, safeguard assets through regular audits and identify financial risks.
• Oversee supplier payments, follow up on outstanding receivables and review invoices and payment vouchers.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• CPA-K finalist status required.
• At least 5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing, bakery or food processing environment.
• Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
• Experience in cost accounting, profitability analysis, internal controls and tax compliance.
