Accountant – Hospitality (Restaurant & Conference)

About the role

We are seeking an Accountant to manage the day‑to‑day financial operations of a restaurant and conference facility within the hospitality sector. The role ensures accurate reporting, effective cost control, statutory compliance, and provides timely financial information to support management decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Manage the general ledger, perform bank, cash and ledger reconciliations, and monitor cash flow.
• Reconcile daily restaurant sales from POS with cash, mobile money, card and bank receipts.
• Verify conference and event revenues against bookings and invoices.
• Process supplier invoices, manage accounts payable and receivable, and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Assist in budgeting, monitor departmental expenditures and analyse food & beverage costs.
• Collaborate with stores and procurement to ensure accurate inventory records and conduct periodic stock counts.
• Support payroll processing and ensure compliance with PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, Housing Levy and other statutory deductions.
• Liaise with auditors, tax authorities and regulatory bodies during audits.
