Accountant

About the role

ABNO Softwares International is hiring two Accountants in Nairobi for full-time positions. The Accountant maintains accurate financial records, prepares statutory and management reports and ensures compliance with accounting standards and organisational policies. The role covers core accounting functions, supports audits and provides financial insights to support decision-making.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and post daily accounting entries in the ERP system and maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with IFRS/GAAP, and support management accounts with schedules and variance analysis.
• Process supplier invoices and expense claims, maintain supplier contract records, issue customer invoices, monitor collections and update debtor aging reports.
• Follow up on outstanding receivables with the Senior Accountant.
• Perform bank, M-Pesa and petty cash reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare and file VAT, PAYE, NSSF, SHIF and other statutory returns, and support external audits.
• Support internal and external audits, recommend improvements to internal controls, and keep digital and physical finance files organised.
• Provide financial insights for budgeting and forecasting and carry out other finance tasks assigned by the Senior Accountant.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 2-3 years' experience in accounting or finance roles; 3+ years mentioned in the header.
• CPA Part II (Section 4) minimum; CPA finalist preferred.
• Experience preparing financial statements and statutory returns.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and general ledger management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and accounting/ERP systems.
• Attention to detail, analytical thinking, independence and good communication skills.
