About the role
AutoXpress Ltd is seeking a self‑driven Accounting Officer to manage the payables function within its finance department. You will ensure accurate processing of supplier invoices, timely payments, and compliance with Kenyan tax regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Post supplier invoices, verify tax details and adhere to company procedures.
- Process outgoing payments manually, via bank platforms and ERP systems.
- Manage and track payment instructions sent to the bank.
- Reconcile supplier accounts and other ledgers, resolving queries promptly.
- Prepare supplier ageing reports and payment schedules.
- Compile various financial schedules and review reports as required.
- Compute, prepare and remit statutory taxes (withholding tax, VAT) within deadlines.
- Reconcile Mpesa payments in a timely manner.
- Participate in the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasts.
- Assist with regulatory matters such as insurance renewals, claims and licence applications.
- Support document management, archiving both physical and digital records.
- Contribute to internal and external audits and close open items efficiently.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
- Professional qualification such as ACCA or CPA (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in accounts payable.
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax laws, especially withholding tax and VAT.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Working knowledge of SAP S/4 HANA.
