Accounts Assistant

About the role

The Fairmont Mara Safari Club is seeking an Accounts Assistant to support its finance team. Reporting to the Unit Accountant, you will ensure accurate credit‑card processing, assist with cost control, and help maintain the hotel’s financial records in line with luxury hospitality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile daily credit‑card transactions from the Property Management System (PMS) with payment gateway and bank statements.
• Monitor outstanding credit‑card receivables and follow up on unreconciled items.
• Assist in monitoring departmental expenses and ensure compliance with approved budgets.
• Conduct periodic stock counts for food, beverage, housekeeping supplies, and operational inventories.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities and maintain accurate accounting documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality or hotel environments.
• Knowledge of hotel cost‑control procedures and financial reporting.
• Ability to work independently and handle physical aspects of the role, such as frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with hotel Property Management Systems (PMS).
• Familiarity with accounting software.
• Credit‑card reconciliation expertise.
