Adjunct Instructor – Heavy Equipment

About the role

The College of Engineering Technology seeks qualified adjunct instructors to teach Heavy Equipment courses on a part‑time, semester‑by‑semester basis. Classes are delivered in person at Ferris State University campuses or approved sites in Michigan.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lecture and laboratory instruction for Heavy Equipment Technology programs.
• Develop and update curriculum to align with NATEF standards.
• Prepare and present course materials, assessments, and hands‑on demonstrations.
• Maintain a safe classroom environment and adhere to university policies.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a related field (or bachelor’s with extensive industry experience).
• Minimum three years of relevant heavy‑equipment industry experience (five years if holding only a bachelor’s).
• Residency in Michigan after hire and legal authorization to work in the United States.

Required skills

• CDL Class A
• Air Brake Endorsement
• Haz‑Mat Endorsement
• ASE Certification
