AEC Expert – Data Centers (Consulting)

About the role

Mercor is seeking an experienced Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) professional to provide technical peer‑review for data‑center projects. The role involves assessing design, permitting and construction tasks, fixing gaps, and ensuring outputs align with professional standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review long‑term tasks covering structural and civil design, geotechnical inputs, foundations, slabs, wind and seismic analysis, rooftop equipment loads, building codes, AHJ requirements, drawing packages, BIM coordination and constructability.
• Validate engineering assumptions, calculations, governing criteria, code interpretations and cross‑disciplinary coordination.
• Identify ambiguities, conflicting documents, missing constraints or unrealistic deliverables and improve task prompts, supporting artifacts, acceptance criteria, rubrics and programmatic checks.
• Produce clear technical findings and validate corrected tasks from start to finish.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience on data‑center, mission‑critical or similarly complex building projects.
• Background such as Senior Structural Engineer, Civil/Site Engineer, Geotechnical Engineer, Code Consultant, Engineer of Record, Design Manager, Project Architect, BIM/VDC Manager or Construction Engineer.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. building codes and engineering standards; PE, SE or RA credentials preferred.
• Experience at a leading multidisciplinary AEC, design or consulting engineering firm is a plus.
• Ability to interpret large sets of documents, calculations, specifications, drawings, models and schedules.
• Detail‑oriented with excellent written communication of technical issues.

What we offer
