AfCFTA Operationalization & Rules of Origin Trainer

About the role

We are seeking a part‑time Trainer to design, develop and deliver specialised training on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) operationalisation and rules of origin. The role is based on‑site in Nairobi and will serve public‑sector, private‑sector and trade‑practitioner audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop expert‑led training sessions covering AfCFTA legal frameworks, tariff schedules and rules of origin.
• Create course materials, case studies and practical exercises tailored to diverse professional groups.
• Facilitate interactive workshops and explain complex customs‑related processes.
• Assess learner needs, evaluate participant performance and gather feedback.
• Update content regularly to reflect current regional trade developments.
• Collaborate with ForElite’s program team to ensure alignment with local legal frameworks and global best practices.

Required profile

• Strong expertise in AfCFTA frameworks, regional trade integration, rules of origin and customs procedures.
• Experience in capacity building, adult learning methodologies and professional training design and delivery.
• Background in international trade law, economics, trade policy or a closely related field.
• Excellent presentation, facilitation and communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
• Proven experience working with public‑sector agencies, private‑sector organisations or trade and investment institutions in Africa.
• Ability to develop practical case studies, tools and exercises that translate theory into actionable insights.
• Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in international trade, law, economics, business or related discipline preferred.
• Commitment to ethical practice, learner‑centred approaches and respect for diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
