Agriculturist & Horticulture Specialist – Customer Support

About the role

The role supports customers in Nairobi by diagnosing plant health issues and recommending suitable agricultural products. You will work closely with the sales team to provide technical advice on horticultural crops, ornamental and indoor plants.

Key responsibilities

• Identify plant pests, diseases and nutrient deficiencies.
• Advise customers on watering, fertilisation, soil management and plant care.
• Recommend appropriate pesticides, fungicides, herbicides and fertilizers, explaining dosage, application methods and safety precautions.
• Provide technical support for ornamental, indoor and horticultural crops.
• Assist customers in selecting plants suitable for specific environments and growing conditions.
• Monitor plant health in the shop and nursery, maintaining records of common problems and recommendations.
• Stay updated on new agricultural products, pest‑control methods and horticultural practices.
• Support sales staff with technical product information and participate in demonstrations and nursery activities.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Crop Protection, Plant Science or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of plant diseases, pests, fertilizers and pesticides.
• Interest in ornamental plants and horticulture.
• Good communication and customer‑service skills.
• Ability to diagnose plant problems and explain technical information in simple terms.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply; previous experience in agricultural retail, nursery management or extension is an advantage.
