AI QA Automation Engineer

About the role

Co-operative Bank is hiring a full-time, on-site AI QA Automation Engineer in Nairobi. The role designs and maintains automated tests for AI-powered applications, validates system performance and ensures banking solutions meet quality and reliability standards. The position is middle level and requires a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain risk-based test strategies and plans for AI applications, data pipelines, integrations and platform services, with traceability to requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Build and maintain automated test suites for APIs, user interfaces, data pipelines, integrations, regression, performance, resilience and security checks.
• Validate the quality, reliability and safety of AI solution behaviour, including safeguards, against approved requirements.
• Develop test data and scenarios covering business, technical and AI risks while protecting sensitive data, working with ICT Security and AI Risk and Compliance.
• Integrate automated quality gates into delivery pipelines so defects and release risks are visible before deployment.
• Coordinate performance, recovery and production verification testing with technology teams and support user acceptance testing, keeping test evidence in line with audit and governance needs.
• Track defects, verify fixes and report residual risks with an independent quality assessment.
• Review post-release quality and use findings to improve test coverage, automation and quality practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science or a related field.
• At least 4 years in software quality assurance or quality engineering, including at least 2 years of hands-on test automation.
• Demonstrated experience testing APIs, integrations, digital applications and data-intensive systems.
• Exposure to AI/ML validation, model testing or data-quality testing is preferred.
• Professional certifications such as ISTQB Foundation Level, Test Automation Engineer, AI Testing or agile testing are an added advantage.
