Analyst – SME Banking & Finance Development

About the role

The Analyst will support the SME Finance & Development (F&D) Group in designing and delivering financing solutions for small and medium‑size enterprises across EBRD’s countries of operation. Working under the guidance of an operation leader, the role covers the full project cycle from origination to monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to structuring and execution of SME finance transactions, including financial analysis, modelling and risk assessment.
• Prepare technical cooperation assistance documents, terms of reference and internal approvals.
• Monitor project implementation, disbursements and covenant compliance, and draft monitoring reports with recommendations.
• Support communication with internal units, clients and partners, drafting correspondence and presentations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in a relevant field; professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA or CIMA are desirable.
• Relevant experience in banking, investment, private equity, asset management or financial consulting, preferably with exposure to the Kenyan market.

Required skills

• Financial modeling and quantitative analysis.
• Credit analysis and interpretation of financial statements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and spreadsheet‑based modelling tools.
• Strong written and oral communication in English.
