Anesthesiologist

About the role

The Anesthesiologist will deliver comprehensive anesthesia services for orthopaedic, trauma and related surgeries at St. Lukes Orthopaedics & Trauma Hospital in Eldoret. The position involves pre‑operative evaluation, selection and administration of anesthetic techniques, intra‑operative monitoring, and post‑operative recovery management, working closely with surgeons, critical‑care teams and nursing staff.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑anesthetic assessments and develop individualized anesthesia plans.
• Select and administer appropriate anesthetic techniques for orthopaedic and trauma procedures.
• Monitor patients continuously during surgery and manage any intra‑operative complications.
• Oversee post‑anesthesia recovery, ensuring safe transition to postoperative care.
• Participate in emergency cases and provide peri‑operative pain management.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to hospital protocols and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Fully licensed physician with completed residency in anesthesiology; board certification or eligibility preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise in pre‑operative assessment, intra‑operative management and postoperative care.
• Experience with orthopaedic and trauma surgery cases is highly desirable.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication and teamwork skills in a fast‑paced hospital environment.
