Applications Administrator

About the role

The Applications Administrator ensures the availability, reliability, security and optimal performance of corporate systems and applications. Working closely with IT teams and external suppliers, the role involves daily monitoring, maintenance, user administration, backup processes and configuration optimisation to minimise business disruptions.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain user access controls, including provisioning, modification, de‑provisioning and periodic access reviews.
• Monitor system and user availability to keep performance well above SLA targets and coordinate with external hardware and software suppliers.
• Produce trend‑analysis reports for IT management and ensure standardised documentation of systems and support procedures.
• Collaborate with Problem Management to identify root causes, resolve incidents within SLA and support interface testing.
• Work with implementation teams to size hardware appropriately, manage backups, recovery policies and database patching.
• Proactively monitor capacity, performance, integrity and security of databases using appropriate tools.
• Manage system upgrades, customisations and vendor coordination while documenting procedures for smooth transitions.
• Recommend and implement monitoring and automation tools to improve productivity and reduce costs.

Required profile

• Proven experience ensuring system availability above SLA levels.
• Strong knowledge of user access management and periodic access reviews.
• Ability to generate analytical reports and maintain comprehensive system documentation.
• Experience working with external suppliers and coordinating SLA compliance.
• Familiarity with backup, recovery and database patch management processes.
• Competence in capacity and performance monitoring of applications and databases.
• Team‑oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across technical and business functions.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to drive issues to resolution within agreed timeframes.
