Area Head – Contract Logistics (Eastern Africa)

About the role

The Area Head will lead Maersk Contract Logistics (MCL) delivery across the Eastern Africa Area, based in Nairobi. You will be responsible for overseeing warehousing, depot, middle‑ and last‑mile operations and driving financial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery organization (warehouse, depot, middle & last mile) for MCL in the region.
• Oversee financial reporting, budgeting and cost control to ensure economic performance.
• Ensure the right capabilities, staffing and talent development to support growth.
• Collaborate with technology and solution teams to implement integrated logistics solutions.
• Maintain a safe, compliant environment and lead health & safety, ISO and legal compliance initiatives.
• Optimize transport network for middle‑ and last‑mile operations and manage outsourced partners to meet SLAs.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in contract logistics, warehousing and distribution.
• Proven people‑leadership experience in a delivery/operations setting.
• Strategic mindset with ability to work in a complex matrix organization.
• Experience in e‑commerce fulfilment environments is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Economics, Supply Chain Management or related field; Master’s preferred.
