Assistant Director Human Resource Management

About the role

The Assistant Director Human Resource Management will coordinate and oversee the implementation of HR policies, systems and programmes at the Kenya Institute of Special Education. The role covers workforce planning, payroll administration, HRIS management, training, employee relations and performance management.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate implementation and review of HR policies, legislation and procedures to ensure compliance with government and institutional requirements.
• Oversee workforce planning, staffing analysis, succession planning and optimisation of staffing structures.
• Supervise payroll administration to ensure accurate, timely and compliant processing of remuneration and statutory deductions.
• Manage HRIS, maintain data integrity, confidentiality and regular updates of employee records.
• Coordinate staff induction, training needs assessments, annual training plans and delivery of in‑house learning programmes.
• Provide technical guidance, mentor HR officers and oversee employee relations, performance management, discipline and staff welfare programmes.

Required profile

• 12 years of experience as a Principal Human Resource Management Officer.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Management or Administration.
• Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Human Resource Development or Strategic Planning.
• Professional qualification and membership of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) with a practising licence.
