Assistant Executive Housekeeper

About the role

The Assistant Executive Housekeeper supports the daily operations of housekeeping and laundry at a 5‑star hotel in Nairobi. Working closely with the housekeeping team and other departments, the role ensures guest rooms, public areas and employee spaces are clean, well‑maintained and meet the hotel’s quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate guest‑room status updates with the Front Desk and liaise with Engineering for maintenance needs.
• Supervise the general cleaning schedule, assign work based on room turnover lists and monitor completion.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, linens and uniforms, and assist with ordering.
• Conduct inspections of guestrooms and public areas, report deficiencies and follow up on corrective actions.
• Participate in budgeting, monitor controllable expenses and help achieve departmental financial targets.
• Handle guest complaints, promote exceptional service and empower staff to resolve issues.
• Support HR activities such as staffing level management, accident investigations and enforcement of policies.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in a housekeeping management role, preferably within a 5‑star hotel.
• Strong understanding of housekeeping policies, standards and procedures.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Front Desk, Engineering and other departments.
• Good communication skills and a focus on guest and employee satisfaction.
