About the role

The Assistant Investigator supports the Head of Investigations in handling complaints and disputes across Meru and Laikipia counties. The role involves conducting interviews, gathering evidence, and preparing reports for review.

Key responsibilities

  • Receive case assignments and develop investigation plans.
  • Interview complainants, respondents, witnesses and other relevant parties.
  • Gather, verify and document evidence, including field visits when required.
  • Prepare accurate investigation notes, reports and maintain case files.
  • Present findings and recommendations to the Head of Investigations.

Required profile

  • Diploma or degree in Law, Criminology, Social Sciences, Human Rights, Conflict Resolution, Public Administration or related field.
  • Current or former resident of Meru County or Laikipia County.
  • Fluency in English, Kiswahili and Kimeru.

Required skills

  • Strong investigative and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent interviewing and communication skills.
  • Objective assessment of evidence and high ethical standards.
  • Proficient report‑writing and documentation.
