Assistant Students Counsellor (Grade E/F)

About the role

Mama Ngina University College, a constituent college of Kenyatta University, is recruiting an Assistant Students Counsellor (Grade E/F) within the Office of Student Affairs and Outreach. The post holder coordinates and runs the University College's Student Counselling Section.

Key responsibilities

• Handle students' social-life issues by offering guidance and counselling to correct undesirable behaviour.
• Run guidance and counselling sessions to address social issues such as drug misuse, as a preventive measure and to stop further addiction.
• Organize talks for students on identified need areas, sourcing speakers to give public lectures that help students make informed decisions.
• Maintain follow-up with students so that positive behavioural change is sustained and relapse is prevented.
• Refer students needing specific attention, such as drug addicts requiring rehabilitation, to the appropriate service providers.
• Provide spiritual guidance to students.

Required profile

• Earned Master's degree in Counselling Psychology or equivalent from an accredited university, OR a Bachelor's degree in Counselling Psychology or equivalent.
• Registered and licensed by the Counsellors and Psychologists Board and in good standing.
• Experience in student counselling (at least six years total, three in student counselling, for the Bachelor's route).
• Proficiency in computer applications.
