Assistant Transport Manager

About the role

The Assistant Transport Manager supports end‑to‑end transport execution, fleet coordination and financial management for outbound deliveries. Reporting to the Deputy Head of Warehouse & Outbound Logistics, the role ensures on‑time‑in‑full (OTIF) performance, cost control and compliance across all transport activities.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily fleet deployment in line with dispatch plans.
• Ensure vehicle availability matches delivery schedules, routes and load requirements.
• Resolve vehicle shortages, breakdowns or late arrivals with transporter supervisors.
• Optimize asset utilisation through effective routing, sequencing and load consolidation.
• Monitor turnaround times, identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
• Own end‑to‑end accounts payable for transporters, including invoice collection, rate verification and POD validation.
• Manage AIR (claims, recoveries, penalties) follow‑ups where applicable.
• Submit verified transporter invoices via the VIM system, ensuring accuracy and contractual compliance.
• Coordinate with Finance and Audit teams for clean reconciliations and timely payments.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience (minimum 5 years) in transport or logistics operations.
• Proven ability to manage fleet planning, transporter performance and financial processes.
• Strong attention to detail and capability to meet OTIF targets.
