Associate Programme Management Officer – Human Settlements (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is seeking an Associate Programme Management Officer to support the Planning and Finance Section of the Global Solutions Division in Nairobi. The role focuses on the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes that promote sustainable urban planning, finance and development, particularly in refugee‑hosting settlements.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, monitor and evaluate programmes and operations within the assigned functional area.
• Develop, document, pilot/test and disseminate planning policies, standards, tools, methodologies and regulatory frameworks at global, regional and national levels.
• Support the integration of humanitarian and development actions to enhance protection of persons of concern and progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.
• Identify strategic challenges and opportunities for urban and territorial planning, municipal finance and local economic development.
• Collaborate with local governments, humanitarian partners and UN‑Habitat staff to promote the “New Way of Working” for coordinated urban interventions.
• Report directly to the Chief of the Planning and Finance Section and contribute to the Section’s strategic objectives.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in urban planning, public policy, development studies or a related field.
• Experience in programme management, monitoring and evaluation, or urban development initiatives.
