Associate – Real Estate & Construction

About the role

The successful candidate will join the Real Estate, Construction & Conservation Law team, providing high‑quality legal advice and representation across a wide range of property‑related matters. This associate position focuses on both real‑estate transactions and construction‑law issues from project inception to handover.

Key responsibilities

• Support conveyancing matters, including land acquisitions, disposals, sale‑and‑lease‑back and corporate real‑estate transactions.
• Advise on tourism, conservation and leisure deals, such as lodge acquisitions, community conservancy establishment and wildlife management.
• Assist promoters with REITs, real‑estate funds and industrial real‑estate projects, including those in special economic zones.
• Draft, negotiate and review construction contracts (FIDIC, JBC and bespoke forms), consultant appointments and procurement strategies.
• Provide legal support throughout the full project lifecycle, from planning and financing to completion and handover.

Required profile

• LLB with strong academic record and admission to practice law in Kenya.
• 3‑5 years post‑qualification experience at a top‑tier or reputable mid‑size law firm.
• Demonstrated experience in construction contracts, real‑estate development or infrastructure transactions.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical abilities, with high attention to detail.
• Strong communication, presentation and business‑development skills.
