Associate, Trade Finance

About the role

The Associate, Trade Finance will process a wide range of trade finance transactions, manage portfolio risks and support business growth. The role requires a Business or Finance degree and at least one year of experience in trade operations. It operates under the bank’s internal policies, CBK prudential guidelines and international trade standards.

Key responsibilities

• Process trade finance instruments such as letters of credit, guarantees, collections, bill discounting and supply‑chain finance, ensuring compliance with internal and external guidelines.
• Provide customer care by acting as the main point of contact for trade finance enquiries, advising clients and handling correspondence with counterpart banks.
• Conduct audit and compliance activities, including Nostro reconciliation, AML/sanctions screening and risk event reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or a related field from a recognized institution.
• 1‑3 years of professional experience processing trade finance products.
• Attributes such as integrity, risk awareness, client focus, analytical ability and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Knowledge of international trade regulations and standards (UCP, ISP, ISBP, URDG, URR).
• Experience with sanctions screening (UN, EU, domestic) and compliance checks.
