Automotive Engineering Technician

About the role

The Automotive Engineering Technician will support trainers and trainees in the institute’s workshop, ensuring smooth operation of practical sessions and maintenance of equipment. This full‑time position is based on site and contributes directly to the institute’s mission of delivering high‑quality technical education.

Key responsibilities

• Assist trainers and trainees in solving technical problems during practical sessions.
• Manage workshop inventory by receiving, issuing, and tracking tools and materials.
• Enforce health and safety procedures and report accidents to the section head.
• Prepare and monitor maintenance schedules for all workshop equipment.
• Provide procurement specifications and advise on budgeting for workshop needs.
• Segregate non‑functional equipment to maintain a safe environment.
• Report equipment breakdowns and recommend replacements.
• Supervise workshop cleaning to ensure a conducive training environment.

Required profile

• Diploma in Automotive Engineering.
• Minimum K.C.S.E. grade of C‑ (Minus).
• At least 4 years of experience in a TVET institution (preferred).
• Demonstrated merit and strong work performance.
