Back End Developer

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Back‑End Developer to join Wanaag Solutions’ technical team in Nairobi. The role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining custom Odoo modules while collaborating closely with functional consultants and clients to deliver robust ERP implementations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain custom Odoo modules and applications.
• Customize existing Odoo modules to meet specific client requirements.
• Develop and maintain third‑party integrations using REST APIs (e.g., M‑Pay, payment gateways, biometric systems).
• Write secure, scalable, and maintainable Python code; perform code reviews, testing, debugging, and performance optimisation.
• Manage PostgreSQL databases, including migrations and optimisation.
• Configure, deploy, and maintain Odoo.sh and Linux‑based production environments.
• Handle Git repositories, branching strategies, and deployment workflows.
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide technical support.
• Prepare technical documentation, deployment guides, and development documentation.
• Collaborate with functional consultants, project managers, and QA teams throughout project delivery.
• Participate in solution architecture, technical estimation, and implementation planning.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience developing custom solutions on Odoo.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Odoo framework (ORM, models, views, security, controllers, QWeb).
• PostgreSQL database management.
• XML, JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
• Git/GitHub version control.
• Linux (Ubuntu) server administration.
• REST API development and integration.
• Docker and Odoo.sh (advantage).
