Board Member – Information Systems Security & Cybersecurity

About the role

The Board of Directors position provides governance oversight of information systems security and cybersecurity for Qona Sacco. The elected member will bring strategic vision, expertise, and compliance experience to protect the SACCO’s digital assets.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and oversight for information security and cyber‑risk management.
• Ensure compliance with Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution and relevant regulatory frameworks.
• Review and approve security policies, incident response plans, and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with senior management to align security initiatives with business objectives.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise and experience in information security or cybersecurity within a financial services environment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a current Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) report, Police Clearance Certificate, and Tax Compliance Certificate.
• Professional standing with relevant bodies (where applicable) and a clean record as required by Chapter Six.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of information systems security principles and cyber‑threat mitigation.
• Familiarity with SACCO financial operations and regulatory compliance.
• Experience in governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) frameworks.
