Boiler / Mechanical Technician

About the role

The Boiler / Mechanical Technician will be responsible for operating, monitoring and maintaining the hospital's boiler and steam systems to ensure a reliable supply of steam and hot water for critical medical services. This onsite role requires hands‑on maintenance of mechanical plant within a healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor hospital boilers, burners, pumps, valves, steam traps and associated pressure vessels.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on boilers, calorifiers, hot‑water generators, steam distribution and condensate return systems.
• Maintain boiler water treatment systems, monitor water quality and adjust treatment as needed.
• Respond promptly to alarms, troubleshoot operational abnormalities and ensure uninterrupted steam supply.
• Inspect, repair and replace mechanical components such as pumps, pressure vessels, mechanical piping, and hospital equipment like mechanical trolleys and beds.
• Document maintenance activities, complete preventive maintenance records and report condition monitoring findings.

Required profile

• Diploma or Craft Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Plant Engineering, Industrial Maintenance or a related field.
• Valid Boiler Attendant or Boiler Operator Certificate is an advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years experience maintaining mechanical plant or utility systems; hospital experience preferred.
