Boiler Technician

About the role

Q-Sourcing Limited, trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec, a manpower management firm operating across East Africa, is recruiting a competent, skilled and experienced Boiler Technician to work in Nairobi on behalf of its client. The role covers inspection, maintenance, repairs and supervision of mechanical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Keep mechanical systems running optimally through routine inspections and maintenance, monitoring metering equipment and adjusting levels as needed
• Schedule and carry out regular inspections, cleanings, filter replacement and other tasks, and repair or replace faulty components
• Monitor safety equipment, spot potential issues and take steps to fix them
• Carry out repairs and replacements, obtain parts and upgrade components as needed
• Supervise a team of assistant operators and mechanics by delegating tasks, scheduling jobs, giving instructions and providing constructive feedback
• Stay current on safety laws, regulations and policies and keep records of inspections, maintenance and repairs
• Follow developments in relevant technology and recommend improvements

Required profile

• Diploma in a mechanical engineering field from a recognised institution
• At least 5 years of experience with complex steam, water and compressed air systems in a busy manufacturing setting
• Experience with effluent treatment plants is an added advantage
• Advanced Boiler Operator certification from NITA
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, detail-oriented and safety-conscious
• Able to work under pressure
