Business Development Manager – Nairobi

About the role

Our client, a leading India‑based manufacturer of power‑conditioning and power‑protection equipment, is looking for a technically skilled and commercially driven Business Development Manager to lead and expand its operations in Nairobi.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities in industrial, commercial, manufacturing and electrical equipment sectors across Kenya.
• Promote and sell power‑conditioning products such as static voltage regulators, stabilisers, transformers and related equipment.
• Assess customer power‑quality challenges, interpret technical requirements and propose suitable solutions.
• Manage the full technical sales cycle from prospecting to proposal, negotiation and closure.
• Build and maintain relationships with industrial clients, consultants, OEMs, contractors and procurement teams.
• Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations and seminars for clients.
• Develop and oversee channel partners, distributors and strategic alliances to broaden market reach.
• Monitor competitor activity, market trends and coordinate with technical and manufacturing teams for order execution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering; an MBA in Marketing or Business Administration is a plus.
• 7–10 years of experience in technical sales or business development within power‑quality, industrial automation or electrical equipment industry.
• Proven track record selling UPS systems, voltage stabilisers, inverters, transformers or related power‑protection products.
• Strong ability to interpret electrical schematics, single‑line diagrams and technical specifications.
• Demonstrated B2B solution‑selling, negotiation and relationship‑management skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly across Nairobi and East Africa.
