Business Development Managers - Nairobi and Mombasa

About the role

The Business Development Manager will lead growth initiatives across Nairobi and Mombasa, focusing on lending, credit, and trade finance solutions for SME and commercial customers. The role combines portfolio management, customer acquisition, and revenue target achievement.

Key responsibilities

• Drive business development, customer acquisition and portfolio growth.
• Manage lending and credit portfolios, ensuring quality and sustainable growth.
• Monitor portfolio quality, arrears and debt recovery.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with SME and commercial customers.
• Drive Trade Finance and Import Finance business.
• Provide working capital and business financing solutions to customers.
• Identify new business opportunities and deepen existing relationships.
• Leverage data and technology to enhance portfolio monitoring and recovery.
• Achieve business, lending, revenue and recovery targets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Business, Economics or a related field.
• 5–8 years’ experience in banking, micro‑finance or financial services.
• Strong experience in lending, credit, business development and debt management/recovery.
• Practical experience in Trade Finance and Import Finance.
• Proven ability to manage portfolios and deliver business and recovery targets.
• Experience in debt collection and recovery is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, relationship management and communication skills.
