Business Development Specialist – Life Sciences & Healthcare Litigation

About the role

Arnold & Porter is seeking a Business Development Specialist to support marketing and business development initiatives for its Life Sciences & Healthcare Regulatory and Product Liability Litigation practice groups. The role will be based in either New York or Washington, DC, and will work closely with Business Development Managers, attorneys, and cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Support the full lifecycle of RFPs, pitches, and proposals from planning through submission.
• Collaborate with attorneys and marketing colleagues to develop client‑focused materials.
• Coordinate research, data, and pricing inputs with internal stakeholders.
• Manage production, delivery, and record‑keeping of final submissions and track outcomes.
• Partner with Business Development Managers on strategic marketing initiatives, sponsorships, and client development efforts.
• Collect and coordinate information for legal directory submissions (e.g., Chambers, The Legal 500, Law360).
• Coordinate logistics for in‑person and virtual events, including conferences, webinars, and sponsorships.
• Maintain and update the firm’s CRM and experience database (Foundation) and develop targeted contact lists.
• Assist in drafting newsletters, client communications, and updating marketing collateral.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in marketing, business development, or client relations, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
• Experience supporting Life Sciences & Healthcare Regulatory and Product Liability Litigation practices is a plus.
• Strong writing, editing, and organizational abilities.
• High attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple priorities.
