Business Growth and Development Manager

About the role

The Business Growth and Development Manager will lead a branch team to drive revenue, expand the client portfolio and increase market share for Old Mutual in Nairobi. Working closely with the Area Manager, the role combines strategic planning, sales leadership and strong relationship management to achieve growth and profitability targets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute branch business initiatives aligned with corporate strategy to boost growth and profitability.
• Lead and motivate a small‑to‑medium sized team of advisors, sales consultants and remote sales staff.
• Manage existing client relationships, identify decision‑makers, collect feedback and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Generate new sales opportunities through referrals, trade shows, community outreach and targeted prospecting.
• Oversee performance management, set SMART targets, monitor results and take corrective actions.
• Provide operational support, supervise transactional processes and ensure compliance with risk and regulatory standards.
• Track branch budgets, report variances and drive cost‑efficient use of resources.
• Coach team members, build succession plans and foster a high‑performing culture.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in a financial services or banking environment.
• Strong track record of achieving sales targets and growing client portfolios.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills with customers, community partners and government entities.
• Ability to develop and implement strategic business plans and turnaround initiatives.
• Solid understanding of budgeting, performance management systems and compliance requirements.
