Camp Manager – Summer Camp & Outdoor Centre

About the role

The Camp Potlatch Manager leads the operation of a wilderness summer camp and outdoor centre on 133 acres of pristine British Columbia coastline. Reporting to the Director of Camp and Facilities, the manager oversees program delivery, staff supervision, safety, budgeting and marketing from May to October, with a dedicated workspace in Vancouver.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise two Camp Coordinators and approximately 50 staff members and 135 campers per session.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of both the Summer Camp and the Outdoor Centre.
• Maintain the highest health and safety standards for campers, staff, food services, facilities and medical services.
• Ensure compliance with BGC program standards, BC Camping Association regulations and legislative requirements.
• Manage multi‑day land and water‑based trips and Outdoor Centre programs.
• Lead recruitment, hiring, training and performance evaluation of staff and volunteers.
• Participate in budget development, financial monitoring and tracking.
• Develop marketing and promotion materials in collaboration with BGC’s Marketing & Communications team.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising large teams in a camp or outdoor‑education setting.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety and regulatory standards for youth programs.
• Ability to manage budgets, track expenses and ensure financial accountability.
• Experience creating and delivering marketing or promotional content for programs.
• Excellent organizational and program‑development skills.
