CAPEX Projects Engineer

About the role

The CAPEX Projects Engineer will lead capital expenditure projects and asset improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards while delivering value across the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate and deliver Capex projects up to $5M annually, managing gate reviews, risk, SHE/PSM and legal compliance.
• Lead contractor and stakeholder coordination during design, construction and commissioning phases.
• Oversee project handover to Operations, tracking cost savings, ROI and performance metrics.
• Manage end‑to‑end sourcing, supplier qualification, RFP/RFQ evaluation and contract negotiations for over 100 suppliers.
• Control purchase requisitions, material receipts, contract completion and claims in partnership with Finance.
• Drive preventative and corrective maintenance for critical assets, ensuring high availability and safety.
• Maintain annual Capex/Opex budgets, monitor KPIs and implement cost‑saving strategies.
• Lead energy audits, sustainability initiatives and enforce safety regulations as Asset Energy Officer.
• Supervise maintenance staff, schedule training and manage overtime.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years experience in bulk storage, port operations, processing plant or similar environment.
• Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Industrial Engineering or Project Management; master’s or certifications (CEM, PMP) a plus.
• Strong knowledge of food industry, construction, maintenance and continuous improvement.
• Fluent in English; Kiswahili preferred.
