Cashier with Tax Reporting Experience

About the role

We are seeking a diligent Cashier who can manage daily cash operations while handling tax reporting responsibilities. The role is based in Westlands, Nairobi and offers the opportunity to work closely with the finance team in a fast‑moving shipping and logistics environment.

Key responsibilities

• Handle daily cash receipts, payments, counting and bank bookkeeping.
• Process bank transfers, remittances and perform bank reconciliations.
• Review reimbursement documents and payment requests for compliance.
• Maintain accurate cash and bank journals.
• Operate the POS (Point of Sale) system efficiently.
• Assist the accountant with month‑end closing and voucher filing.
• Ensure accountability and security of cash and financial documents.
• Report discrepancies, shortages or suspicious activities immediately.
• Balance cash drawers and reconcile transactions at the end of each shift.
• Perform routine tax reporting work and maintain the tax file.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in bookkeeping and tax reporting.
• Strong attention to detail, honesty and integrity.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle transactions efficiently.

Required skills

• Proficiency with POS systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• General computer applications.
