Ceph Engineer / Developer – Cloud Storage Specialist

About the role

ELITS Canada is seeking a Ceph Engineer/Developer to join its R&D team and help evolve a large‑scale OpenStack‑based cloud platform. You will work with experienced engineers to optimise storage performance, scalability and reliability for production workloads spanning tens of petabytes.

Key responsibilities

• Deep‑dive into Ceph code (RADOS, RGW, core storage) to improve performance and scalability.
• Profile, benchmark and troubleshoot issues across massive clusters.
• Lead internal knowledge sharing and mentor teams on Ceph best practices.
• Contribute upstream to the Ceph project with patches and design discussions.
• Develop and maintain build pipelines and extensions for long‑term maintainability.
• Partner with Platform Operations to enhance observability and stability of production clusters.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional squads to align Ceph capabilities with roadmap items such as GPU‑aaS, Backup‑aaS, Bare‑metal‑aaS and DB‑aaS.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating multi‑petabyte, high‑availability Ceph clusters in production.
• Strong C++ development background for system‑level software.
• Deep knowledge of Ceph performance tuning (OSD placement, CRUSH maps, BlueStore, cache tiering, RGW optimisation).
