Chief Miller – Uganda

About the role

The Chief Miller will lead all milling operations for our Uganda‑focused grain processing hub, ensuring high‑quality flour production while meeting national fortification standards. Reporting to senior management, you will oversee the entire value chain from raw grain intake to finished product distribution.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily milling activities, from grain intake to finished flour.
• Monitor product quality, conduct tests, and ensure compliance with industry and customer specifications.
• Oversee operation, maintenance, and calibration of milling machinery to minimise downtime.
• Implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste and boost output.
• Enforce safety regulations, dust‑control measures and proper use of PPE.
• Train, mentor and manage mill staff, fostering a culture of accountability.
• Manage raw grain intake, storage, and finished product distribution.
• Prepare production reports, track performance metrics and communicate results to management.
• Supervise grain fortification processes, ensuring accurate micronutrient dosing and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Degree in Food Science, Milling Technology, Agriculture or a related field.
• Professional certification from a recognised milling institution.
• 5–7 years of experience in flour milling, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of grain properties, milling processes and quality standards.
• Proficiency with mill automation systems and production software.
