Chief Program Officer

About the role

The Chief Program Officer (CPO) leads the delivery of SHOFCO’s flagship programs, turning community power into measurable impact at scale. Reporting to the CEO, the CPO oversees operational execution across education, gender‑based violence response, clean water, and youth empowerment initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously improve the operational systems that support the Integrated Investment in Vulnerable Children (IIVC) and Youth Voice and Empowerment (YVE) programs.
• Manage program performance dashboards, monitor key indicators, and intervene with program directors to address lagging results.
• Oversee the scaling of the SHOFCO Urban Network (SUN) across all Kenyan counties, ensuring consistent community engagement and advocacy outcomes.
• Coordinate with monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) teams to produce quarterly reports and data‑driven insights.
• Collaborate with finance, logistics and partnership teams to align resources with program targets.

Required profile

• Senior executive with extensive experience managing large‑scale, multi‑sector programs in the non‑profit or development space.
• Proven ability to translate strategic goals into operational plans and deliver results.
• Strong analytical mindset, comfortable reviewing data, indicators and MEL reports.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to work closely with program directors, field staff and senior leadership.
