Child Welfare Clinic (CWC) Nurse

About the role

The Child Welfare Clinic (CWC) Nurse will deliver comprehensive maternal, newborn and child health services within an IRC facility. Reporting to the facility in‑charge, the nurse ensures high‑quality care for women, infants and children while supporting the Child Welfare Clinic and Expanded Program for Immunization (EPI) activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide antenatal, delivery and post‑natal care, including counseling on breastfeeding, family planning and newborn care.
• Assist with normal deliveries and manage emergency second‑stage deliveries.
• Monitor newborn health, support breastfeeding, administer neonatal interventions and vaccinations.
• Deliver routine immunizations according to the EPI schedule and manage common childhood illnesses such as diarrhea, pneumonia and malaria.
• Conduct growth monitoring, child development promotion and nutritional counseling at the CWC.
• Maintain accurate medical records and submit regular health indicator reports.
• Participate in training, supervise junior staff and contribute to clinical audits.
• Engage in community health education and outreach activities.

Required profile

• Qualified nurse with experience in maternal, newborn and child health.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor junior staff.
• Strong record‑keeping and reporting skills.
• Willingness to participate in training and capacity‑building initiatives.
