Clearing & Forwarding Manager – Logistics Operations

About the role

The Clearing & Forwarding Manager will lead AGL’s clearing and forwarding operations in Nairobi, overseeing import and export customs clearance, and coordinating sea, air and road freight. The role ensures regulatory compliance, operational efficiency and high customer satisfaction while supporting budgeting and cost control.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all import and export customs clearance activities, including declarations, permits, licences and duty payments.
• Coordinate sea, air, road transport and warehousing to ensure seamless cargo movement.
• Monitor cargo status, resolve delays, customs issues and operational bottlenecks.
• Maintain compliance with customs laws, revenue authority requirements and international trade regulations.
• Develop and maintain relationships with customs authorities, port authorities, government agencies and logistics partners.
• Lead customs audits, ensure accurate record‑keeping and mitigate compliance risks.
• Handle escalated operational issues and customer complaints professionally.
• Monitor departmental profitability, control costs and approve invoices related to duties, freight and transport.
• Identify cost‑saving initiatives, support budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Negotiate service improvements with shipping lines, airlines, transport providers and other partners.

Required profile

• Business degree.
• Diploma in Logistics and Distribution or equivalent.
