Clinical Instructor – Nursing School, Nairobi

About the role

The Clinical Instructor at the Nairobi branch of AG German Institute provides direct supervision and technical mentorship during clinical rotations, bridging students' gap between classroom theory and hands-on experience. The role trains students in practical medical procedures, evaluates their skills and diagnostic reasoning, and ensures they complete the mandatory logbook hours. It reports to the Head of Nursing School.

Key responsibilities

• Clinical supervision: guide students during ward rounds, outpatient clinics and community placements, giving bedside teaching in history-taking, examinations and procedures while ensuring patient safety.
• Case debriefing: lead post-round discussions that link clinical findings with theory and develop diagnostic reasoning and care planning.
• Competency assessment: evaluate performance, give constructive feedback, audit clinical logbooks and oversee practical exams such as OSCEs.
• Simulation lab instruction: run procedural demonstrations and mock scenarios to build confidence before hospital placements.
• Professional modeling: teach bedside manner, empathetic communication and confidentiality, and coordinate rotations with hospital staff.
• Administrative oversight: keep accurate records of student attendance, behaviour and performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited university.
• At least 3 years of experience in nursing education.
• Valid practice license from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of the NCK curriculum structures.
• Lesson planning and OSCE skills.
• Meticulous, result-oriented approach and good communication skills.
