Clinical Officer – Dadaab

About the role

The Kenya Red Cross Society is seeking a qualified Clinical Officer to deliver high‑quality outpatient and inpatient care at its Dadaab health facilities. The role involves diagnosing and treating patients, maintaining accurate records, and supporting health‑post staff in a humanitarian setting.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments and prescribe treatment following MOH/WHO guidelines.
• Maintain accurate patient registers and files, ensuring confidentiality.
• Perform minor surgical procedures at the workstation.
• Take detailed patient histories and update treatment plans for admitted patients.
• Participate in ward rounds and respond to medical emergencies at the hospital and health posts.
• Supervise medical assistants and provide on‑the‑job training to auxiliary staff.
• Ensure adherence to universal precautions and infection‑prevention protocols.
• Identify critically ill patients and prioritize treatment.
• Compile and submit timely reports and contribute to knowledge‑management activities.

Required profile

• Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution.
• Registered with the Clinical Officers’ Council of Kenya and holding a valid practicing license.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a refugee or humanitarian setting.
