Health Information Systems Officer/Records

About the role

The Health Information Systems Officer/Records will lead data management activities, improve data quality, and ensure accurate reporting to county and national health information systems. Based in Dadaab, the role supports evidence‑based decision‑making for community health programs.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design and implement processes for effective people, resource and data management.
• Assess and control risks related to data collection and reporting.
• Develop innovative solutions to improve performance and meet organizational objectives.
• Determine data collection needs based on program requirements and evaluate adequacy of collection methods.
• Organize, implement and enforce data management procedures, and train staff on proper tools.
• Establish and monitor data quality standards.
• Manage contracts with software vendors and ensure continuous system functionality.
• Troubleshoot data‑related issues and oversee software updates and staff training.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Prepare regular and special reports for various departments and ensure reporting to national and county HIS.

Required profile

• Diploma in Health Information Systems or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in IDSR and routine/non‑routine data management for community‑based programs.
• Extensive knowledge of KHIS tools, data upload and report generation.
• Ability to conduct programming or analysis using SPSS, STATA, MySQL or SharePoint technologies.
• Strong mathematical, organizational and presentation abilities.
