Collection Officer (Kapenguria)

About the role

The Collection Officer will be responsible for minimizing credit losses and maximizing recoveries for our loan portfolio. You will engage directly with defaulting customers, negotiate settlements, and ensure timely feedback to management on payment behaviours.

Key responsibilities

• Meet targets for credit loss reduction and loan recoveries.
• Contact defaulting customers by phone or visit to negotiate repayment plans.
• Collaborate with Branch Development Officers on bad‑debt portfolios.
• Prepare, analyse and submit regular reports on overdue accounts, recovery plans and risk exposure.
• Identify risk areas in the recovery process and recommend corrective actions.
• Implement data clean‑up procedures to maintain accurate credit data for MSMEs.
• Oversee the realization of securities while respecting borrowers’ rights.
• Approve loans within authorised limits and support further approvals.
• Assess training needs and supervise credit department personnel.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree with a good general education.
• Computer literacy.
• Background in sales, marketing or a financial institution is an advantage.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in debt recoveries or related credit functions.
