Communications and Outreach Officer

About the role

A client of KKCO East Africa, an independent accounting and advisory firm of Certified Public Accountants based in Kenya, is looking for a proactive, creative and passionate Communications Officer. The role supports the organization's Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Communications strategy, acting as its storyteller-in-chief by turning field impact into compelling narratives that strengthen the brand, engage partners and influence stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute an integrated communications strategy aligned with the organization's mission and program goals, and craft impact stories from its work
• Write and edit press releases, newsletters, annual reports, op-eds, donor updates and blog posts
• Own and manage the organization's website, keeping content fresh and SEO-optimized
• Manage social media channels (LinkedIn, X, Facebook), including content calendars, creation, publishing and community engagement
• Maintain brand consistency across all internal and external materials
• Build relationships with agricultural, development and mainstream media, coordinate press inquiries and interviews, and monitor coverage with monthly analytics reports
• Support planning, promotion and coverage of events, field days, partner forums and campaigns, and prepare communication kits, photography and videography briefs and event collaterals

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or a related field
• 2-3 years of proven experience in a communications role
• Exceptional writing, editing and verbal storytelling skills
• Demonstrable experience managing social media platforms, websites and digital content creation

Required skills

• Proficiency in design tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite is a strong advantage
• Proficiency in analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Meta Business Suite is a strong advantage
