Communications Intern

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Communications Intern to join the Ozone Secretariat in Nairobi. This six‑month internship offers hands‑on experience in global environmental communication, supporting high‑profile meetings and campaigns related to the ozone treaties.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing in‑house coverage of UNEP’s annual meetings and Working Group sessions.
• Support the creation and rollout of global communication campaigns for World Ozone Day and the Kigali Amendment anniversary.
• Provide communications, branding, and logistical support for meetings, including the Meeting of the Parties in November.
• Research, draft, and edit content for various outreach materials under the guidance of senior staff.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme (Master’s or Ph.D.) or the final year of a bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, communications, or a related field.
• Strong interest in environmental issues and international treaty processes.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural team.
