Communications Manager (Kenya)

About the role

Girl Effect is seeking a Communications Manager to lead the day‑to‑day delivery of its communications strategy in Kenya, supporting fundraising and partnership goals.

Key responsibilities

• Build and manage relationships with partners' communications teams, overseeing co‑branded content and joint announcements.
• Produce funder‑facing materials, event assets, and social content for global convenings and executive engagements.
• Own the content calendar and community management for LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube, keeping the digital estate current.
• Monitor media mentions, social engagement and sector news, running the press office and journalist relations.
• Embed Girl Effect’s core narrative across all channels and support country communications leads with training and templates.
• Manage the asset library, photography/video archives and design templates to ensure brand consistency.
• Brief and manage freelancers, agencies and track delivery, budget and engagement metrics.

Required profile

• Experienced communications professional with 4+ years in external, donor or corporate communications, preferably in non‑profit or social impact.
• Excellent writer and editor capable of turning complex evidence into clear, compelling stories.
• Confident relationship builder comfortable working with partners, country teams and senior colleagues.
• Highly organised with a track record of running multiple projects and establishing lasting systems.

Required skills

• Proficiency with digital collaboration tools such as Slack, Asana and Google Workspace.
• Experience managing social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube).
• Ability to produce simple design assets using Canva.
