About the role
inABLE is seeking a strategic Communications & PR Manager to lead the organisation’s communications, brand visibility and public engagement across Africa. The senior manager will translate programme impact into compelling narratives that attract partners, strengthen public trust and position inABLE as a thought leader in digital accessibility and disability inclusion.
Key responsibilities
- Design and execute an integrated communications, public‑relations and stakeholder‑engagement strategy aligned with growth, fundraising and advocacy priorities.
- Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership, shaping messaging for donors, policymakers, media and the public.
- Develop thought‑leadership content, editorial plans and quality‑assured materials such as speeches, policy briefs, annual reports and executive presentations.
- Build and manage relationships with journalists, development partners, government actors, private‑sector stakeholders and influencers to increase media coverage and brand recognition.
- Lead brand‑building campaigns and communications for flagship convenings, ensuring visibility, stakeholder engagement and policy influence.
- Oversee reputation and crisis communications, delivering timely, values‑based responses.
- Translate programme results, research and beneficiary stories into impact reports, multimedia stories, newsletters and digital content.
- Drive a digital communications strategy that keeps the website and social channels accessible, data‑informed and community‑focused.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, international relations, development communication or marketing; Master’s degree preferred.
- 8–10 years of progressive experience in strategic communications, PR, corporate affairs or development communication, preferably within international development or nonprofit sectors.
- Proven ability to design and implement communications strategies that support organisational growth, visibility and fundraising.
- Strong track record in thought leadership, executive communications, media relations and brand positioning.
- Excellent skill in turning programme data and human‑interest stories into persuasive content for diverse audiences.
- Understanding of donor‑funded programming, advocacy, disability and digital inclusion.
- Experience managing communications teams and external consultants.
