About the role
The Africa Center for Health Systems and Gender Justice is seeking a motivated intern to support its community engagement and programme activities in Nairobi. This position offers hands‑on experience working with diverse community groups, including women’s collectives, youth, and survivors of gender‑based violence.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in planning and implementing community outreach events and workshops.
- Support data collection and documentation of community feedback.
- Collaborate with programme staff to coordinate activities in informal settlements.
- Help prepare reports and communication materials for stakeholders.
Required profile
- Background in community development, gender studies, public health, social work, psychology, sociology, development studies or related fields.
- Experience working with women’s groups, informal settlements, youth, GBV survivors or grassroots organisations is an advantage.
- Fluency in Swahili is required; knowledge of Sheng or other local languages is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills, empathy and respect for community knowledge.
