Community Oral Health Officer (COHO)

About the role

Equity Afya is recruiting a Community Oral Health Officer (COHO) in Kiambu, Kenya. The COHO delivers preventive, promotive and basic curative oral health services, especially in community and rural settings, while observing acceptable standards of operation. Applications from Community Health Workers, Social Workers or other unrelated cadres will not be considered.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Community Oral Health from a recognised institution
• Valid registration and licence from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC)
• At least two years of post-internship experience
• Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Experience in community outreach, school dental health programmes or mobile dental clinics is an added advantage

Required skills

• Ability to perform basic dental procedures such as examinations, extractions, prophylaxis and fluoride application
• Knowledge of oral disease prevention, health education and community mobilisation
• Computer proficiency, especially Health Management Information Systems
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with rural or underserved populations
