About the role
Vert Limited is looking for a Compliance Officer – Agronomy to ensure that all agronomic activities meet international food‑safety standards, organic requirements and Kenyan legislation. The role provides day‑to‑day compliance support to the Agronomy Department and acts as a key liaison with growers and auditors.
Key responsibilities
- Support implementation, maintenance and audit‑readiness of GLOBALG.A.P., FSSC 22000, Organic and BRCGS standards across company and approved grower farms.
- Monitor pesticide and agro‑chemical use, pre‑harvest intervals (PHIs), maximum residue limits (MRLs) and ensure correct storage, handling and disposal.
- Assist with water‑quality testing, soil and environmental monitoring, and manage agricultural waste responsibly.
- Maintain audit‑ready records, prepare compliance reports, audit summaries and corrective‑action documentation.
- Conduct internal audits, track corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to closure and verify their effectiveness.
- Develop and deliver compliance training for agronomy staff, farm workers, harvest teams and approved growers.
- Support farm‑to‑factory traceability systems and mock‑recall exercises for mangoes, pineapples and other fresh produce.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Food Science, Food Safety, Environmental Science or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in agronomy, fresh produce, food safety, quality assurance, farm compliance or agricultural certification systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of GLOBALG.A.P., FSSC 22000, Organic and BRCGS requirements and pesticide management.
